Hypothetical Order of Battle for the Royal Malaysian Army

The following order of battle is for a division of Malaysian troops and was extracted from a recent TacOps/Harpoon MBX event featuring the U.S. Marines vs. the Royal Malaysian Army. This force structure is totally fictional and while it may in fact bear no resemblance to the real life Malaysian forces, it is based on factual information on both current and projected weapons acquisitions by the Royal Malaysian Army. Therefore, this hypothetical order of battle may be useful for those wishing to construct a plausible, if not authentic, Malaysian ground force quickly and conveniently.

STATUS REPORT ON THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN ARMED FORCES

GROUND FORCES

The Royal Malaysian Army is made up of four divisions, each with two brigades. Because Indonesia, our most feared rival both politically and geographically, maintains a strong force near our borders, we must do the same. Two of our four divisions must therefore stand guard along the Malay Peninsula, while the 3rd Division must defend northern Borneo. Only the 4th Division is free to defend Brunei, our newly acquired territory.

A ninth brigade, called the Royal Grenadiers Brigade, which is normally assigned to guard the capital of Kuala Lumpur, will instead be made available to you to reinforce your garrison in Brunei. They are currently being loaded onto ships in the port of Johor Baharu.

The Order of Battle for the 4th Division is as follows:

2 Brigades (Typhoon, Monsoon), each composed of the following:

Notes:

The Scorpion tank is a light, British-built tank [in TacOps, modelled by a T-55]. Because of its light weight, it will not sink in deep mud, swamps, or padi fields like some of the heavier main battle tanks.

The Stormer is a tracked APC also of British design, closely resembling the MTLB.

The Condor is a German wheeled APC similar to the BRDM2.

The S-11 ATGM is an older, French-made anti-tank weapon, much like the AT-3 Sagger.

The Royal Grenadier Brigade, an elite infantry brigade being sent to reinforce your troops in Brunei, is exactly like the Monsoon and Typhoon Brigades except that the mech companies ride in BTR80s instead of Stormers.
