Intel Report: US Military Sealift Command

Jan. 2, 2010 10:00

The following is a list of ships that make up the US Military Sealift Command, or USMSC. This is a US Navy command directly under SACLANT (Supreme Allied commander, Atlantic) which provides most of the sealift assets needed for oversesas deployment. While most of these ships are merchant ships of one kind or another, they are still classified as military ships and should not to be confused with the independent merchant ships listed in the Registry of Merchant Shiipping document(also located in your Intel area..) You may assume that all of the ships listed below were in their home port as of 02:00, Jan. 2.

NOTE: It may be helpful to print out this form, then mark the ship's last known location or its status ("in port," "sunk," etc.) in the Remarks column as the information becomes available.

NOTES:

ROS is Reduced Operating Status. Numeral is number of days required for mobilization.

RRF is Reserve Ready Force. Numeral is number of days required for mobilization.

For game purposes, all ships are assumed to have an average topspeed of 15 knots (360 nm per day), with the exception of the SL-7 fast vehicle cargo ships, which can reach a topspeed of 33 knots and has an average topspeed of 30 knots (720 nm per day).

It is our considered opinion that these ships will be deployed in time so that they will arrive in Germany no later than Jan. 20, or in Marseilles by no later than Jan. 18.

To determine how long it will take to make the voyage to a particular European port, use the latitude and longitude coordinates of the port's location, then use the Marine Navigation Calculator to find out how many days and hours it will take. (This calculator is also located in the Planning Tools area of your HQ). Note that these timings represent the shortest possible times using the Great Circle route. In the event, the enemy ships may use a slower but less obvious route in order to avoid obvious chokepoints.

END REPORT.
