1. Welcome to the Global Thunder Poland game. It is an operational level sub-game to a much wider global wargame called GLOBAL THUNDER.

2. Click here the place to find out more about the bigger MBX, which started two years ago and has managed to play just two days of the conflict.

3. Here we are stepping down to the crucial land battle, which begins at 00.01 1 Jan 2010. Your team commands the front (the Western TVD), the armies and divisions that will invade Poland. IT also includes that part of the Polish Army that has remained loyal to the pro-Russian government. (PGA)

4. There is a lot to read. You need to familiarise yourself with the GAME ENGINE, the SITUATION (reading GENORD and SITREP), the ORDERS OF BATTLE (OOB). There will be a period where you can ask for clarification from the umpires, then you will be asked to give orders. Orders are given in a mixture of free-text and checkbox. The umpires game the results.

5. The game opens with a special 48 hour phase in which minimal ground contact is expected. The aim is to catch up with the main strategic level game. You may have read reports of what happened in the Polish Theater already. Forget them - they were confused. The whole Polish game starts from scratch right now.

6. The game will be played using email and graphic attachments. IF you have not done already, you should create a folder on your computer for GLOBAL THUNDER POLAND. Ditto on your email client. And you may want to create a file tree for: SITREPS, MAPS, ORDERS, REFERENCE.

7. The game engine will not be fully transparent to you. You will never know whether its a die roll, a human judgement by a real military expert, or a detailed number crunch.

8. The operational game is designed using TacOps, the command simulation used by the USMC, Australian and Canadian armed forces. A brigade-sized engagement may be capable of resolution at this level at some point.

9. You now need to study what is on this site. If you are the kind of person who wants to jump in with minimal reading click here.

10. Your first task will be to create a command tree. We need a designated C-in-C, XO, plus commanders of PGA, 20Corps, 5SA and 10TA. Even if you decide to command as a collective the Umpires need to receive a single authoritative order for each of the above units per turn. Communicate with us via the email address above.
