Background:
The 1st Combined Arms Army is a well-trained unit with a long, proud history, and in fact its divisions can trace their lineage to Czarist cavalry and guard units in the time of Peter the Great. The army thus maintains a strong sense of tradition, a valuable attribute that should help to preserve morale if the going gets tough. (The unofficial motto for this army is "to the last man," which may give some idea of this army's loyalty and tenacity under fire.) While the Regimental commanders in this army are not known for their initiative or daring they have been thoroughly schooled in Russian military doctrine and will execute traditional Russian offensive and defensive tactics with unswerving obedience.
