5th Shock Army
First Echelon
Background:
As a veteran of several provincial wars within the Russian Union during the last decade including the Second Chechnya Campaign, the Crimean Insurrection and the ill-fated Ukrainian secession, the 5th Shock Army is one of the most well-trained and experienced combat units in the Russian Army. Its organization is geared for mechanized infantry assault with added offensive punch through its attached units. Its trademarks are speed and coordinating massed fires, attributes that make it well-suited for breaching enemy lines. Its only weakness may lie in its lack of experience in defensive maneuvers, which this army has simply not been faced with very often in its history. But on the offensive it is first-rate, and given its recent, proud history this unit may well have the highest morale overall of any army in Russia.
Status as of Jan. 1:
This army is located along the Polish-Ukrainian border and is poised for immediate, full-frontal attack.
