2nd Place -- Angola
Name of Player: Tom Jerrell
Main achievement: Destroyed UNITA
Net points scored: 4
General Yuhu has made a mockery of the UN from day
one, and continues to do so. It is said that his corrupt secret
police have been stealing the UN aid packages in the past and
ransoming it back to the sick, starving peasants for whatever
tiny amount of money they have left. (Those who have no money
are given no care.) This went on for far longer than anyone expected
due to bickering between UN members as to who would escort the
supplies to Angola. Even more successful was Yuhu's military
campaign into neighboring Namibia, where his forces destroyed
the supply base to UNITA freedom fighters all under the nose
of the UN (the UN forces were not in a good position to counter
such a strategy.) While his forces were there, it is rumored
-- but not proven -- that Yuhu helped himself to millions of
dollars worth of uncut diamonds which were later sold on the
Black Market. By the time the US was able to lead a coalition
of forces into Namibia, Yuhu very adroitly pulled his forces
back.
Meanwhile, with UNITA's supply base gone, Yuhu's home
army was able to mop up the final pockets of resistance and capture
their leaders without much trouble, thus vanquishing the only
political threat to his rule. Some have speculated that Yuhu
is living dangerously, and that he may not be far away from a
CIA-sponsored sniper's bullet. But he appears to be protected
by his bodyguards, and the fact that there is no viable leader
to take over even if he should be somehow eliminated. It appears,
for now, however, that Yuhu has quite simpy gotten away with
murder, and robbery as well. UN forces still patrol his country,
but most feel that this is only temporary due to other pressures
around the world that are calling these forces back home.

3rd Place -- Honduras
Name of Player: Heraldo Makrakis
Main achievement: Defeated the Leftist"Contras."
Net points scored: 3
Presidente Heraldo Makrakis of Honduras was not a likely candidate
for high honors among the pantheon of world leaders. To begin
with his country was beset by poverty, and alas, still is. Worse,
his rule was being increasingly challenged by a Leftist guerilla
movement (the Contras) which was growing in power each day. The
Contras were not militarily powerful but they had many advantages.
For one they resided in the jungles and hills where their positions
were difficult to locate. They were also expert in the art of
guerilla tactics, which worked extremely well on the remote roads
between Honduran base camps. The almost-daily rocket-grendade
attacks or machine gun ambushes were beginning to affect the
morale of the Honduran policia, which seemed helpless. This began
to shake the confidence of the the people, and many thought it
was only a matter of time.
The main source of the Contra's power, was the arms shipments
they were getting, reportedly from Cuba. Try as they might, however,
the Honduran government was not able to determine how these supplies
were entering the country, probably due to the thick vegetation
and lack of high-tech reconnaissance assets. But on New Year's
Day, with the help of shared intelligence from the US obtained
by spy satellites, the Honduran government finally found and
destroyed the main Contra supply base. More supplies were not
forthcoming, perhaps because US ships were reportedly watching
Cuban harbors too closely. With the supplies drying up, it was
only a matter of time before El Presidente was able to root out
and destroy the Contras, eliminating the only threat to his rule.
The people, now feeling much safer, all appear to support him.

4th Place -- Israel
Name of Player: Henk Stoffers
Main achievement: Defeated Syria
Net points scored: 2
President Stoffers of Israel performed masterfully
as a leader, destroying one of Israel's most threatening of their
sworn enemies, Syria. With relentless air strikes piloted by
well-trained pilots, the Israeli Air Force soon reduced Syria's
armored divisions to smoldering steel.
Some say that the real reason for the defeat was Syria's
inability to gain more support from the other members of the
SILI coaltion -- Iraq, Libya and Iran. According to rumors, internal
bickering and petty rivalry within the coalition prevented this
from happening. This left Syria's army flapping in the wind,
as their long columns of advancing tanks were constantly spotted
by the Israeli Air force and soon destroyed.
Syria did manage to ally itself with Libya, briefly,
which led to perhaps the only setback of the entire war for Israel.
This occurred when a large number of Libyan jets suddenly entered
the war on the side of Syria, an event that had not been factored
in by Israel's generals and which had not been predicted or detected
by US intelligence services (even though many political analysts
think the clues were there to be found, if they had searched
hard enough.).
In the end, Israel's Air Force increased its level
of skill and the popularity of the Israeli leader went up appreciably.
